Holyoke Public Library Now Located in the City Hall Auditorium!

While the historic building on Maple Street is restored and renovated, all library services are available at City Hall. In 18 to 24 months the city will have a new, state-of-the-art learning resource center for all ages. The library's archives remains open at HCC.

Free Technology Classes in Downtown Holyoke

Whatever your age, education or career goals may be, computer literacy is essential. HCC is offering a variety of free classes for the community at our Gill Technology Center in downtown Holyoke. Get an introduction to the computer, improve your keyboarding and word processing skills, and learn how to conduct research on the Internet.

Mike Rice premieres his new work, bliain an plassy,

July & August Gallery Exhibition – Paint Flowers! Contemporary Floral Painting/ Nineteenth Century Roots

This summer, Holyoke based artist Nancy Howard will curate a show of watercolor and oil paintings in the Gallery. Included in the show will be two nineteenth century paintings from the Museum collection, with recent works of several Pioneer Valley artists, including Howard, Greg Stone, Caleb Colon, Martha Armstrong, and Katy Schneider.

Born in Holyoke

“Born in Holyoke” is an illustrated lecture presented by Peter Quirk of Holyoke. Hear about the publication in Holyoke of Good Housekeeping magazine starting in 1885 and and the production of Matheson automobiles in Holyoke starting in 1903.

"The Lewis Hine Project" presented by Joe Manning

To eradicate child labor, the National Child Labor Committee hired Lewis Hine in 1908 to take photographs of children in or near their workplaces in order to expose their plight. He did that for 10 years and photographed over 5,000 child laborers. Journalist and historian Joe Manning has identified over 250 of the children in Hine’s photos, tracked down and interviewed descendants, and told their stories. He will show some of the photos, tell the stories, and talk about the exciting process of searching for descendants, most of whom were not aware of the pictures.

Yoga in the Gardens

Join Yoga Movement & Arts for the second in three summer sessions on the lawn at Wistariahurst for invigorating and refreshing yoga amidst the historic gardens. Subsequent date: August 11. Reservations encouraged. This is a rain or shine event. In case of inclement weather, yoga will be practiced inside the Museum.
